Coming to the City Botanic Gardens from May 7–16, Botanica – Contemporary Art Outside is a huge display of immersive art installations that will light up the park after dark with picture-perfect projections and performances. Now in its third year, this year’s edition of Botanica will feature nine new artworks created by leading artists including Hiromi Tango, Simone Eisler, Georgie Pinn, Esem Projects, Charlotte Haywood, Jenna Lee, Kellie O’Dempsey, Paul Bai and Georgia Hillas. The eye-catching artworks are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this year’s event, which will also bring to life a children’s discovery trail where kids can play hide-and-seek with micro-projections of Australian fauna, as well as musicians filling the air with live tunes, food trucks slinging delicious eats and a pop-up bar quenching event-goers’ thirsts.
The full program of events for Botanica 2021 features a treasure chest of happenings including artists workshops, guided tours, self-guided sonic tours, mindfulness spoken-word activities, a poetry-slam night and live-drawing performances.
