BrisAsia Festival Returns With a Hearty Dose of Culture And Fun

Get excited, folks – one of the city’s most exciting cultural events, BrisAsia Festival, is back. From February 1–20, our city will come alive with the sights, sounds, tastes and experiences of Asia – no passport needed! From street-wide tea festivals full of boba to romantic gigs in gardens, here are some of the most exciting BrisAsia events popping up in Brisbane …

With an exciting program spanning multiple venues around Brisbane showcasing Asian dance, visual arts, food, music, film and more – there’s something for everyone at this year’s BrisAsia Festival. The annual event is an opportunity for locals to enjoy Asian art, culture and cuisine, as well as being an opportunity to celebrate Brisbane’s cultural diversity. Welcome in the Year of the Tiger at the festival’s launch party, a cultural spectacular featuring live performances, DJs, dance, fashion and more at Fortitude Music Hall. Dance as the sun sets at the annual Summer Party, where Asian pop culture and the art of cosplay combine for a fun night of vibrant, high-energy celebration. Continue to live out your Step Up dreams at Queen Street Mall, which will host a breakdancing and open-style dance competition, or hang around the mall to tune in to some local music legends who are set to perform as part of BrisAsia Beats.Tea lovers of all kinds are encouraged to flock to Fish Lane for the Laneway Tea Festival, a street-wide celebration where you can sample tea from some of Queensland’s best producers, including everyone’s favourite bubble-filled Asian drink, boba! Fast cars, bangin’ beats and sizzling street food awaits at Southside by Night, the festival’s community-focused car meet. Lovebirds can celebrate Valentine’s Day with Love Songs, a musical journey featuring romantic songs from across the globe, or get your fashion fix at the BrisAsia Fashion Festival, which is set to showcase local Asian designers and champion intercultural dialogue and collaboration with Indigenous artists. Another not-to-be-missed event is the Lunar New Year celebrations in Fortitude Valley’s Chinatown Mall. The Valley will come alive with lion dancers, firecrackers, traditional music, drumming performances, interactive workshops and roving street performers to welcome the Year of the Tiger. It’s sure to be a roaring good time.
