Country Music Weekend 2019

By Chelsea Paine

The wild west meets the not-so-deep southeast of Queensland for a weekend of hat tippin’ fun at the Country Music Weekend this September.

Held over two massive days at the Doomben Racecourse, the Ariat Country Music Rodeo is first up on Friday 13 running from 5:30 pm until late. The best bull and bronco riders will kick the action off as they compete to take home the title of Rodeo Champion, vying to stay bull-bound the longest. The party won’t stop there, with Brooke Schubert hitting the stage after the competition, leading the entertainment for the evening.

On Saturday September 14 will be the Country Music Raceday, supporting the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service. Scrub up those R.M Williams and dust off the Akubra for this event, kicking off at 10:30 am and running late into the evening. The races will be accompanied by a huge musical entourage, including back-to-back #1 album artist Adam Harvey. Harvey will be joined by other stellar performers on the Saturday with the likes of Caitlyn Shadbolt, Bunn Gunn, Viper Creek Band and Casey Barnes to name a few.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Country Music Weekend will also have a bounty of pop-up bars, food trucks, side show alley, market stalls and heaps more across the weekend. And if you want to keep your boots planted firmly onsite for the whole weekend, you can also book a camping spot and have an Iron Jack and a yarn by the campfire, complete with live music at ‘Jack’s Shack’, the exclusive party spot for campers.

Details on tickets and package options for the weekend can be found online, along with heaps for info about the weekend ahead!
