Here’s What’s On In Brisbane This Month That Should Be On Your Calendar

By George Hadgelias

Get ready for yet another month that is jam packed with killer events happening all across Brisbane (pending no more lockdowns and restrictions easing—we don’t have a crystal ball guys). From a film festival entirely dedicated to dogs to Christmas in July markets happening the entire month you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Brisbane Good Food Month is hitting the city and bringing more food events that we could imagine and with the Brisbane Comedy Festival also taking place this month, you’ll be laughing all the way into August. Here’s what’s on in Brisbane this July that you’ll definitely need to plan for.

After a long June, you may just be in need of a laugh and the Brisbane Comedy Festival is the perfect place to turn to. Heading to three venues across the city, the festival will be bringing some of Australia’s best comedians to town, including the likes of Lloyd Langford, Melanie Bracewell, Nikki Osborne and many others. Check out the full program to see who else will be leaving you in tears of laughter from 16 July to 8 August with their best comedy hits.

Top Dog Film Festival

Love them or not, there is really nothing better than a movie centred around the story of a dog. Well actually there is—try eight movies about dogs in a row. Coming to town this month, the Top Dog Film Festival will feature eight short films that have everything to do with our furry friends and the people around them (although we know that you’ll just be there to see the dogs). The two-hour showing will follow dogs from across the world on their canine adventures, from the hilarious to the tear-jerking.

Night Noodle Markets

Possibly our favourite event of the month, the Night Noodle Markets are back (after a Covid-induced break last year) and we couldn’t be more ready to shovel Asian-inspired street eats into our mouths. You may have to visit more than once to get a taste of all of the dishes that they will have on offer this year. There will of course be noodles, bao buns and dumplings (none of which should be overlooked) but the real attraction is Gelato Messina’s dessert menu with mango sorbet filled mango pancakes and deep fried milo gelato. The choices are endless and with the street food fest running from 21 July to 1 August you’ll have plenty of time to go back for more.

Of course, there will be live music and plenty of food trucks with all of your favourite winter meals too—we’re talking mulled wine and s’mores. It doesn’t get much better than that.
