The highly-anticipated Spanish Film Festival is celebrating 25 years in 2023 and befitting such a milestone, is a 32-film strong line-up that offers exciting, inspiring and entertaining viewing from the region. One of many highlights include a focus on women in filmmaking – featuring the work of seven prominent Spanish and Latin American female directors, a comprehensive Carlos Saura retrospective, a Uruguayan documentary and much more. Palace Cinema will be hosting this delectable display of film at its James Street and Barracks Shopping Centre venues from June 14 to July 5.
Opening this year’s festival is the Australian premiere of delicious comedy Two Many Chefs (La Vida Padre) which follows the unexpected reunion of a father and son, seeing their ideas of cooking and life be out to the test. As well as this Spanish box office hit, there will be a line-up of successful films from the festival centrepiece Alcarras, hit thrillers Prison 77, A Singular Crime (Un crimen Argentino) and Staring At Strangers and comedy flicks Full of Grace, Four’s A Crowd, Grandfathers and Let The Dance Begin.
Paying homage to the beloved Spanish film director, the festival will include a Lord Of Dance – Carlos Saura Retrospective which presents a showcase of his most successful international box-office films including Carmen, Fados, J: Beyond Flamenco, The King Of All The World and Walls Can Talk.
