Art, culture and history lovers can take a self-guided tour of State Library and discover a treasure chest of gems, from the many gallery spaces and showcases to exhibitions and art works. You can check out pop-up exhibitions like Cut Copy, which delves into Brisbane’s punk-rock music past and Big Voices: Children’s Art Matters, which celebrates the courage and creativity of children sharing their stories through art. You can also discover rare reads including highlights from one of Australia’s largest publicly available collections of artists’ books, immerse yourself in Queensland’s awe-inspiring shared history in the intimate Philip Bacon Heritage Gallery or check out the Paradigm Maquette by acclaimed American sculptor Jon Barlow Hudson, created for World Expo ’88. All you have to do is pick up a guide on level one and check in to check it out.
