New home approvals are still below the federal government’s Housing Accord target but have been trending upwards since March 2024. Click here to read more.
Delicious food and making a difference sounds like an unbeatable combination, right? Now is your chance to help a great cause and have fun doing it – the Queensland Government’s White Ribbon Day Breakfast.
The breakfast is a special event run to show support toward ending violence against women. White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end men’s violence against women and girls – it promotes gender equality, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity.
Through education, awareness raising, creative campaigns, preventative programs and partnerships, White Ribbon provides the tools for men to stop violence against women in their community and beyond.
The 2017 breakfast will focus on the importance of youth as champions for change with a panel of community leaders led by Kay McGrath OAM discussing the positive role men can play in preventing violence, the importance of teaching respectful attitudes and behaviours from an early age and how we can educate today’s youth to champion change for future generations.
Proceeds from the breakfast will be donated to the awesome organisations White Ribbon Australia and DVConnect.
