Paddington’s vintage shopping trail

By George Hadgelias

The charming historic inner suburb of Paddington is Brisbane’s mecca for vintage, retro and op shopping with 11 fantastic shops in walking distance of each other.

Take the trail starting from Given Terrace and all the way along Latrobe Terrace (with a detour to Rosalie Village) and spend a day hunting for treasures, with plenty of cool cafes for a stop along the way:

Start the treasure hunt on Given Terrace, where tucked away upstairs in a 1980’s commercial centre you’ll find Encore La Chance,  designer consignment store where you could pick up anything from an Oroton 80’s handbag to Miu Miu shoes or a 90’s evening gown.

Paddington’s new op shop is filled with designer labels at bargain prices – and you’ll be supporting a great cause.
Retro Metro, one of Brisbane’s best vintage and retro shops lives underneath an old weather beaten Queenslander.
Be it original design or the one off brilliance of vintage fashion you seek, follow the pink carpet to the back of Paddington’s Coin Laundry and you may just find both.

This quirky boutique stocks a mix of preloved designer brands and vintage finds, from coats and frocks to shoes and bags.

What this store lacks in laundering it makes up for in atmosphere.

An old Queensland cottage with polished timber floors has been converted into Brisbane’s most stylish op shop .

Barbarella’s Vintage is a tiny secret underground treasure trove of vintage fashion and wares.

Occupying the front rooms of a charming Paddington cottage (that has Barbarella Vintage underneath) is this fantastic shop of quality pre-loved fashion.

The original granddaddy of antique emporiums has been operating from under the blue starry ceiling of the old Plaza Theatre.
This virtual Aladdin’s cave of new and secondhand vinyl records occupies an historic Paddington store.
If a department store and an op shop had a baby this’d be it.
